# Terms of Service for ScoreBoard

Effective Date: March 4, 2026

## 1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ScoreBoard (“the app”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

## 2. Description of Service

ScoreBoard is an unofficial mobile application that:

• Connects to your school’s Home Access Center (HAC) system
• Displays your grades and academic information
• Optionally shares anonymous grade data for class averages (if you opt-in)
• Provides grade tracking and analysis tools

## 3. User Accounts and Credentials

### Your Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate HAC login credentials
• Keep your login information confidential
• Notify us of any unauthorized access
• Comply with your school’s acceptable use policies

### Our Commitments:

• Store credentials securely on your device only
• Never share your credentials with third parties
• Never transmit credentials to our servers
• Delete credentials when you logout

## 4. Grade Sharing Feature (Optional)

### Opt-In Service:

• Grade sharing is completely optional
• You must explicitly enable it in Settings
• You can disable it at any time
• Your data is deleted immediately when disabled

### What You’re Sharing:

• Course codes, class names, and grade percentages
• Anonymous device identifier (cannot identify you)
• NO personal information, names, or student IDs

### Privacy Protections:

• All shared data is anonymous
• Class averages require minimum 10 students
• Unique device fingerprint prevents duplicate submissions
• One upload per 24 hours to prevent data manipulation

### Your Acknowledgment: By enabling grade sharing, you acknowledge that:

• Your grades will be uploaded anonymously
• Class averages will be calculated and shown to other students
• Other students in your classes may see aggregate statistics
• Data cannot be traced back to you individually

## 5. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Share your account with others
• Attempt to access other students’ data
• Reverse engineer or modify the app
• Use the app for any illegal purpose
• Submit false or manipulated grade data
• Attempt to game or manipulate class averages
• Bypass security features or restrictions

## 6. Data and Privacy

• Login credentials stored locally on your device
• Grade sharing data stored securely and anonymously
• We never sell or share your personal information
• You can delete all your data by logging out or uninstalling

## 7. Disclaimers

### Not Officially Affiliated:

• ScoreBoard is not affiliated with PowerSchool, Home Access Center, or St. Johns County Schools
• This is an independent, unofficial application
• We are not responsible for HAC system outages or errors

### No Guarantees:

• The app is provided “as is” without warranties
• We don’t guarantee 100% uptime or availability
• Grade data may have delays or inaccuracies
• Class averages are estimates based on participating students

### Educational Use:

• For personal academic tracking only
• Not for official grade reporting
• Always verify important information with HAC directly

## 8. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for:

• Loss of data or grades
• HAC system errors or downtime
• Incorrect class averages or statistics
• Academic decisions based on app data
• Any damages from using or inability to use the app

## 9. Changes to Service

We may:

• Modify features or functionality
• Update these Terms at any time
• Discontinue the service with notice
• Add or remove supported schools

Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms.

## 10. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Attempt to manipulate or abuse the system
• Use the app for harmful purposes
• Provide false information

You may terminate by:

• Logging out of the app
• Uninstalling the app
• Disabling grade sharing

## 11. Intellectual Property

• ScoreBoard app and branding are our property
• You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the app
• User-generated data (your grades) remains yours
• Shared anonymous data is used as described in Privacy Policy

## 12. Geographic Restrictions

• Currently designed for St. Johns County Schools (Florida, USA)
• May not work with all HAC implementations
• We may expand to other school districts

## 14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.

## 15. Entire Agreement

These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and ScoreBoard.
